Bluefield University student declares himself for 2022 NFL draft

BLUEFIELD, VA (WVNS) – A Bluefield University student-athlete has decided to declare himself for the 2022 NFL Draft.

A native of Baltimore, Charles Turner-Cox declared himself for the NFL Draft via social media last week on Wednesday, December 22, 2021. Turner-Cox, who plays the defensive back for the Rams, was selected to play in the SPIRAL Tropical Bowl on January 15, 2022. He will be the only NAIA player at a senior Division I major tournament that will showcase the talents of college players across the country.

But this is not his first invitation.

He went to three other National Bowls, including the NAIA Senior Bowl, FBS All-American Bowl, and FCS National Bowl. Turner-Cox said he was excited about this process.

“The skills I would bring to the table would be athletics, using my left to my ability, also my height, my IQ just by learning the game and playing fast and also being a good teammate and being coachable.” , said Turner-Cox.

Bluefield University assistant football coach Devon Jackson has responded to Turner-Cox’s declaration for the draft.

“He was my first player to make the All-Conference. So when he said, and he had so much traction and got all these bowl invites, I was extremely proud of him. The effort he put in, seeing all the groundwork and knowing that his efforts on the ground have paid off, ”said Jackson.
