Experts assess the relevance and future of university education in Nigeria


Experts from around the world, including labor employers such as the world Bank, Bank of America and the world’s leading learning platform – Coursera, among others, will offer an overview of Nigeria’s university education system and its relevance to the growing needs of modern industries between Tuesday and Thursday.

The hybrid event is the second edition of the University of Lagos’ (UNILAG) annual international week, Akoka, which is organized by the institution’s Office of International Relations, Partnerships and Perspectives.

A statement released by the office, a copy of which was made available to PREMIUM TIMES, ahead of the conference, said Education Minister Adamu Adamu; The Nigeria Country Director for the World Bank, Shubham Chaudhuri, and the Managing Director (Sub-Saharan Africa) of Bank of America / Merrill Lync, Yvonne Ike, will honor the event.

The opening ceremony is expected to be honored by Akwa Ibom State Governor Udom Emmanuel; vice-chancellor, University of Stellenbosch, Wim de Villiers, professor; Secretary General, Association of African Universities, OB Oyewole; Pro-Vice Chancellor, Derby Business School, University of Derby, Kamil Omoteso, among others.
