Luke Taylor, a commercial music student at Liberty University, is one of the latest recipients of “american idol» coveted golden tickets, which send a singer to the next round of the competition.

The Liberty University student shocked the judges with his extremely deep baritone voice as soon as he entered the set and replied with “nothing more, how are you”, after being greeted by the celebrities ” American Idol”.

After the judges noticed that his voice sounded like that of famous actor James Earl Jones, Taylor, 20, sang Ring of Fire by Johnny Cash for the panel.

“I went from four foot eleven and singing alto to six foot one and singing under bass,” Taylor explained when describing the transformation he underwent during his freshman year of high school.

american idolHost Ryan Seacrest told Taylor he should make money doing the voiceover for the film’s trailer just before his audition. After hearing Taylor speak, the judges agreed with Seacrest .

While singing “Ring of Fire”, judge Lionel Richie told the other two judges, Luke Bryan and Katy Perrythat Taylor sings “lower than Cash”.

Bryan interrupted Taylor’s audition a minute after he sang, telling her he was going to Hollywood. He then asked Taylor if he would sing “Frosty the Snowman” for him.

“Well, listen, son. You’re going to Hollywood, I don’t care if I have to cut off my arm” to get there, Bryan told her. Taylor then obliged Bryan and sang the children’s Christmas song.

“We don’t want you to be a singer of novelty Christmas songs,” Bryan told Taylor. “But voices like yours, there’s always a place for that.”

Richie said, “If you pick the right songs, you’d be an ‘Oh my God’ type of singer.”

Although Pear was impressed with Taylor’s voice, she wasn’t quite sure what he would be able to deliver on the show. “I think that’s cool,” she said. “But if you don’t give us those other notes, it’s just a gimmick. I’m afraid it’s just funny, but not really able to compete.

While two of the “American Idol” judges, Bryant and Richie both gave Taylor a “Yes,” which gets him into the Hollywood portion of the show, Pear said to the student, “I love you very much. I want to hear Christmas songs from you forever,” but shared with him that she thinks it’s an unworkable idea for him to be crowned the winner of the show.

Taylor has nearly 3 million followers on TikTok which have given her nearly 40 million likes for her videos which mostly feature her singing.

“I never knew much about life or what I’m meant to do with life, but I feel like God presenting me with this beautiful gift is really just a sign that whatever ‘it happens, through ups and downs,’ Taylor told Liberty University, ‘He gave me this opportunity so I could glorify Him and so I could share the music with the world. It’s a really, really cool opportunity.
